Three boys are arrested for the rape of a 13 year old girl at a playground. While walking home from school, through the park, she was assaulted by the three boys, and sexually fondled her. This leads to questions about the safety of children walking home, and also a question about whether the parents of the criminals should be also in trouble.

Girl Struck, Killed by Metrolink

Just hours ago, a Girl from Norte Vista High School, was fatally hit by a Metronlink late this afternoon. After a freight train had passes by, she had stepped onto the tracks, only to find another train coming the opposite direction. This occurred on Buchanan and Magnolia at approximately 3:45.

Planes Nearly Collide Midair

How close is too close? Two airlines nearly collided, with only 200 feet of altitude between them. This event would have been horrific if it had occurred. This can question the communication skills that is required to prevent mid-air crashes.

The city that never sleeps is moving closer to becoming the city that never smokes, or at least the city that highly restricts it.

Nine years after the Big Apple banned smoking in its restaurants, the New York City Council on Wednesday voted to ban smoking in city parks and on city beaches, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a written statement.

Discussion Reflection

The topic of Healthcare brought up good ideas from my classmates. Although I wasn't interacting the whole time, I learned a lot about other peoples opinions and their view points of the topic. However, Healthcare reform is a difficult idea to discuss with others, partly because it's more of a "I disagree", or "I agree" situation. Since this was the first discussion of the Semester, I was able to experience first hand what it's like, so that I can be better prepared for the Mosque discussion.
